Duties and Responsibilities:

·       Prepare conceptual design of the complex projects

·       Carry out/review/analyze complex technical studies and project scopes.

·       Develop and review technical specifications, drawings and standards of equipment/ projects.

·       Review the design-based memorandum, detailed engineering scope and guide the assigned discipline engineers to align the engineering deliverables per project requirements.

·       Work closely with peers to ensure accurate delivery and thorough electrical design that will meet industry standards and specifications and meet good engineering practices.

·       Create a substation design including One-Line, Plan view and sections, grounding plan and detail, cable raceway and trench drawings, lightning protection drawings, lighting drawings, connectors and conductors tables and details, Station BOM.

·       Maintain complete project documentation with respect to engineering studies and calculations (specially grounding, lightning, cable ampacity, equipment sizing) , all design packages, as-built requirements and return data information.

·       Develop & maintain good working relationship with internal groups that support project such as other Engineering disciplines, Drafting, Procurement, Construction and Project Management etc.

·       Select equipment and material and preparation of specifications for material, equipment, construction and installation work.

·       Develop grounding studies and report.

·       Develop lightning protection studies and report.

·       Develop cable ampacity, cable voltage drop and power loss studies and reports.

·       Review of internal and external designs for code compliance, good design practice and constructability.

·       Coordinate design activities with other multi-discipline project team members.

·       Provide construction support including resolving site queries, attending site meetings and performing site inspections during the construction phase of projects.

·       Mentor and provide guidance to developing Jr. engineers within the department.

·       Support technical proposals and pursers

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications:

·       Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering

·       A minimum of 8+ years’ experience in, utility scale, substation design.

·       Experience with AutoCAD Electrical is an asset

·       Experience on System study software like PSS/E, EasyPower or ETAP software is a strong plus.

·       Experience on grounding/ lightning protection and cable ampacity study software like CDEGS, WinIGS, ETAP, CYMCAP is a strong plus and important criteria for hiring.

·       Experience on Arc-Flash Studies is an asset.

·       Knowledge of modern power system, Renewable projects (Solar, Wind farm, Hydro and BESS) and data center projects is a strong plus.

·       Knowledge of T-Line design specially utilizing PLS-CADD is a strong asset.

·       Knowledge of 3-D Substation design software is an asset.

·       Strong client focus.

·       Experience with Station equipment FAT witness is an asset.

·       Knowledge of High Voltage & Utility codes and standards.
