WSP has immediate opportunities available for a skilled Surveyor Assistant in our Raleigh, NC location. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with an exceptional management team, highly regarded in the market, and within a supportive and collaborative company culture. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a robust and rapidly growing Survey team offering ongoing training/mentoring and promotional opportunities, as well as a stable backlog of mainly local work requiring minimal travel. This team works with state of the art surveying equipment and offers flexible schedules including 10 hour day work schedule Monday thru Thursday.

Your Impact

  • Under direct supervision, assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from property/utility records, deeds, land/property titles, structural plans, and other matrices for land surveying activities.
  • Under direct supervision, use survey instruments to perform various types of property surveys on projects of basic complexity and/or scope, which could include boundary, existing condition, topographic, as-built, subdivision, and profile maps.
  • Provides entry-level land surveying assistance that accounts for accurate survey data, and determines conformance with applicable rules, standards, codes, boundaries, and construction specifications.
  • Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation and specifications related to site inspection and survey findings using photographs, sketches, calculations, software, spreadsheets, technical drawings, 2D/3D illustrations, and reports.
  • Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which include but are not limited to, location data, statistical documentation, studies and surveys, and construction.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.
  • 0 to 2 years of relevant post education experience.
  • General awareness of land survey principles, practices, process, methods and techniques.
  • General awareness of relevant codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.
  • Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, and comply with company policies.
  • Ability to work independently under supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
  • Basic proficiency with survey equipment (e.g. Leica Robotic Total Station), AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and/or Geopak.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree in closely related discipline is preferred. #LI-JA1
