This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search in our Tampa, Florida market for a  Water Lead with extensive experience in the local water resources market. 

This individual will lead the Tampa water group and interface with other water leaders across Florida and the U.S operations. The Tampa water team focuses on municipal water resources clients, with a focus on flood mitigation, water quality improvement and ecosystem restoration. This team connects in to the bigger water team which takes a One Water approach across the state. Our professionals are networked across the WSP organization and are active in technical organizations advancing our practice.

WSP’s Tampa Water Team currently has a staff of 6 junior to  mid-level engineers and scientists  connected to an 60+ Florida water resources team with a full backlog and long history with local clients  The successful candidate will be working closely with team members, both locally and across the state, towards the successful completion of a variety of water resource projects and continuing to build our water presence locally.

Your Impact

  • Lead an established project team completing water resource projects.
  • Lead and support business development and strategic planning efforts to increase local market share. This includes estimating project costs and preparing proposals and task order documents.
  • Supervise and direct staff to ensure optimal productivity, positive motivation, training, and employee recognition. Support staff in professional development.
  • Recruit/hire staff and direct project staffing assignments to meet client, contract and company business objectives.
  • Work with other Senior Engineers /Engineering Managers supporting our Water groups across the East region.
  • Act as program/project manager and/or provide senior level technical support/ review for select projects and programs in planning, analysis, engineering and/or design associated water resources.
  • Ensure the technical quality of deliverables.
  • Convey projects updates, methods, results, and findings. Role will include occasional travel to project sites, attendance at public meetings and presentations at professional conferences. 
  • Support financial, project management, backlog, and utilization reporting requirements for the Tampa Water Team.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, with a focus in Civil Engineering, Water Resources or closely related discipline.
  • 12+ years of relevant post education experience in water resources engineering.
  • Florida Professional Engineering License. 
  • Strong business development with connections to local agencies and municipalities in Tampa Bay Area and Central Florida.
  • Experience with change management.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. 
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
