WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Traffic Engineer for our Philadelphia, PA or Exton, PA office.

Your Impact

  • Performance of or Supervision over design and analysis tasks in project team setting, including:
  • Signing and Pavement Marking Design
  • Traffic Signal Design
  • Street and Sign Lighting Analysis Design
  • Traffic Operational Analysis (i.e. Synchro and SimTraffic)
  • Traffic Control/Staging (i.e. Maintenance and Protection of Traffic) Design
  • Transportation Planning, Concept Plan Development, and Feasibility Studies of highway, bridge, and other transportation facilities projects
  • Crash Analysis and Safety Studies
  • Intelligent Transportation Systems
  • Technical Writing and Report Documentation
  • Oversight of traffic data collection and analysis activities
  • Coordination with other disciplines on project teams working on multi-disciplinary projects
  • Oversight and Preparation of engineering design plans, specifications, quantity calculations, and cost estimates
  • Providing technical support for transportation projects in Pennsylvania and assisting other offices when needed. Potential work includes:
  • Multimodal design projects, including bicycle and pedestrian facilities in various settings
  • Conventional traffic design activities (i.e. signal, signing, pavement markings)
  • Traffic modeling and simulation of networks and arterials
  • Traffic Impact Analyses for solar facilities across the United States
  • ATMS development and design

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering from an accredited program
  • EIT Certification
  • 3-5 years of experience in traffic engineering design & analysis projects
  • Demonstrated track record of working with clients throughout the region and the states
  • MS Word Package, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Proficient knowledge of traffic engineering principles, practices, process, and design/build related to traffic control equipment, capacity and operational analysis, project management, and related communications systems
  • Working knowledge of traffic engineering software, such as HCS, Synchro & SimTraffic, VISSIM, and/or CORSIM
  • Experience with Microstation and/or InRoads
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, both with engineering and non-engineering audiences
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
  • Experience and/or ability to perform field work, including site inventories and traffic data collection

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possess or is eligible to pursue a Professional Engineering License (PE license)
  • Possess or is eligible to pursue a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification
  • Familiar with the MUTCD, HCM, HSM, FHWA, AASHTO, ITE, ADA Accessibility and NACTO manuals and design guidance, and PennDOT Publications
  • Familiarity with the intersection between engineering, planning, and land use in transportation policy and equity goals
  • Experience developing construction bid packages, including plans, construction cost estimates, and technical specifications
  • Experience with site trip generation, operational analysis of intersections and roadways, crash and safety analyses, signal design, and/or signing and striping layout and design
  • Experience in highway lighting analysis and design
  • Experience in traffic signing and pavement marking design
  • Experience in Highway Safety Analysis software, such as IHSDM
  • Experience with AutoCAD, AutoTURN, or GuidSIGN   #LI-MC4
