This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Transportation Survey Manager for our Latham, New York office. The following location will also be considered: Troy, New York. Your Impact

  • Maintain responsible charge of all aspects of Surveying staff and transportation related projects within the region.
  • Oversee the management, planning, scheduling, QA/QC and oversight of multiple Survey crews and projects for both internal WSP projects, as well as our external clientele.
  • Coordinate with state and local municipalities to obtain proper certifications and permits for survey work within their jurisdictions.
  • Provide Training and Mentorship to staff on the “best practices” of and training on up-to-date methodology.
  • Provide oversight of any required subconsultants required for survey services, such as quality control and contract negotiations.
  • Represent WSP at external meetings, conferences, and other business development-related activities.
  • Administer Contracts and Proposals.
  • Promote a positive work environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Remain current in latest survey practices, methods, procedures, subject matter, and techniques.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Surveying, GIS, or a related field (or equivalent experience.)
  • 7+ years of relevant post-education experience in the discipline with prior Survey Director responsibilities and/or Survey Project Management.
  • High-level experience with both public and private sector work (e.g. state, city, county, utility districts, and private land development.)
  • Proficiency with land survey principles, practices, processes, methods, and techniques.
  • Highly proficient expertise with relevant codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to mid-level to senior-level teams or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
  • Experienced with providing critical reviews for documents and preparing technical deliverables with a high degree of complexity.
  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Master’s Degree is preferred.
  • Licensed Professional Land Surveyor in the state of New York.

Compensation:

Expected Salary (all locations): $92,800 - $155,210

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
